exagon Metrology’s 7.10.7 SF series of coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) is designed for use in harsh industrial environments. The CMM computer, controller and interface boxes are housed in one self-contained unit to ease transport on the shop floor. Message lighting on the Z-axis cover displays the status of inspection operations on the shop floor, while status lights indicate inspection process completion, pass/fail status and operation problems.
The CMM has a measuring stroke of 710 × 1,010 × 680 mm, and uses standard 110/220-V single-phase outlets with no need for shop air. A workspace lighting feature fully illuminates the measurement volume. The integrated, flexible fixturing system accommodates one 500-mm fixture plate or as many as four 300 × 300-mm fixture plates on the worktable. A kinematic locating system enables quick loading and unloading of fixture plates.
The SF series CMMs are optionally available with PC-DMIS Touch software and a touchscreen interface to expedite measurement tasks and ease creation, selection and launch of inspection programs. According to the company, the software graphically guides users through setup and measurement, and then produces concise, meaningful reports for immediate action. Together, the CMM and software provide an alternative to functional gaging on the shop floor.
